David Smith, R.P.T. is the Director of Western Physical Therapy Medical Group. He has been providing quality care and therapy to patients throughout the Los Angeles area for more than 20 years. He is a graduate from California State University of Long Beach and specializes in Orthopedic and Occupational Rehabilitation. He also has extensive training and knowledge in manual therapy, which adds to the comprehensive program here at Western Medical Group. On Your Employee's First Visit: On your employee's first visit they will have a complete evaluation by our Therapist David Smith, R.P.T. He will design a treatment plan that is specific to their particular situation, and is reasonable and achievable for them. Goals will be discussed on their first visit. Our goal is to return them to their proper functions so that they can return to their normal activities. If you have any questions about their therapy plan and schedule, please do not hesitate to call us. We try to be as accommodating as possible when it comes to scheduling appointments. Work Conditioning Program Western Physical Therapy Medical Group would like to introduce you to our new program that we have developed to return your injured employees back to the work force with the least amount of cost and lost time. Our new program utilizes the work conditioning principles. What Is Work Conditioning? Work conditioning is a highly structured, individualized, treatment program utilizing the simulation of the critical demands of the employee's specific job requirements. Emphasis is placed on duplicating the normal job functions in order to increase the employee's work tolerance. What Is Needed? In order for us to duplicate an injured employee's work environment, we ask that you provide us with a job description for that specific employee. In addition, our therapist may find an on-site review of your employee's work station can be beneficial. Thus, we will be able to develop a specific treatment plan for your employee. Why Work Conditioning? In the past, physical therapy services have only been able to address the patient's symptoms in regard to pain, range of motion, and strengthening. In many instances, the patients would respond favorably to treatment, only to re-injure themselves once they returned to their full duty. Furthermore, documentation of patient's objective abilities were difficult, regarding specific job functions. With our new program, not only will we be able to return your employee to work, but we will provide better training so that re-injury is less likely to occur. In addition, it is possible to document the patient's functional capacity, thus helping to protect you, as the employer, regarding symptoms magnification syndromes. A condition whereby the employee over-exaggerates their subjective complaints beyond objective findings.
